Mr.Yuji Miyamoto
Born in Fukuoka, Japan in 1946, Mr. Miyamoto entered the Japanese Foreign Ministry in 1969 after graduating from the Department of Law at Kyoto University. Subsequently, he was deployed three times under the China Division of the Asia Bureau to work at the Japanese Embassy in Beijing. From 1990-1991, Mr. Miyamoto served as the China Division Chief and from 2006-2010 served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the People’s Republic of China. In addition, in 1985 he served as the Director of Disarmament Affairs of the United Nations Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in 1987 he served as the Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in 1994 he was appointed Consul General in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2001 he was appointed as the Scientific Review Officer (ambassadorial level) of Arms Regulation, in 2002 he was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Union of Myanmar, in 2004 he served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Okinawa, and in February 2010 he was appointed as an advisor to Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In July 2011, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Miyamoto Institute of Asian Research. Mr. Miyamoto is also the author of “How to Deal with China.” (Nikkei Publishing, Inc.)
